Peter Lemons, PhD, Licensed Clinical Psychologist

I'm Dr. Peter Lemons, a Licensed Clinical Psychologist with 12 years of experience

I often remind clients that stress has the effect of narrowing focus.  This is called tunnel vision, and causes options to appear to be more limited than they are.  The tendency is to reuse old strategies without thinking, but this usually results in more of the same.

Taking new action in the face of your sense of hopelessness is a powerful early intervention, and you can do it right now by giving me a call or messaging me.

I will reach back out to you to set up an initial consultation free of charge.  After a 15-minute conversation, you will have the option to set up

an appointment so we can begin treatment.

What I Offer

I trained as a generalist at the Department of Veterans Affairs, where I treated PTSD, depression, anxiety, insomnia, and many other conditions for more than five years as a part of the primary care and mental health clinic teams.   Since I left VA to start my own practice I've developed several areas of specialty:

Managing Adult ADHD

Growing up with ADHD is challenging.  Not only are you often made to feel ashamed and stupid, but you are taught to form stringent rules for yourself in order to meet the expectations of others.  As an adult, these rules can get in the way of forming authentic relationships and feeling confident in your own instincts.  I can help you re-discover where you excel.

Communication Enhancement

No one is guaranteed a good enough early model of positive communication.  As an adult, you are often asked to sit on your feelings, but leaving your needs unexpressed causes pressure to build and can result in emotional volatility or resentment.  Learning how to better express difficult feelings can reduce alienation and conflict, and increase joy and satisfaction in interpersonal relationships.

Creative Process Improvement

As a former creative professional (in Film and TV) I am familiar with the joy and pain of creative life.  Every discipline is different, but individualized process improvement can increase your creative drive and lead to less frustration even as you continue to work hard to hit deadlines.

My Approach

A Flexible Approach to Therapy

I work with every client in a unique way because every client comes to therapy with an individual set of concerns, goals, and expectations.  I incorporate a wide array of tools and strategies into my therapeutic work in order to match my style with those of my clients.  We will work together to forge a collaborative, safe, and non-judgmental environment in therapy.

I work with clients of all different backgrounds, including those with complex psychological histories, and I work hard to build an environment in therapy that allows my clients to focus on moving forward.  If you are interested in learning more about me or my practice, get in touch with me for a free 15-minute consultation.
