ABOUT ME

Providing psychological treatment since 2013

I’m Dr. Peter Lemons, a psychologist licensed in New York and Texas with privileges to practice in most other U.S. jurisdictions through PSYPACT.  I have experience treating PTSD, anxiety disorders (including specific phobias and panic disorder), depression, and insomnia, and I specialize in working with adults with ADHD.  Additionally, I hold a fine arts degree and often work with clients seeking to advance creative pursuits, and to overcome blocks in the creative process.

I completed my doctorate at Binghamton University, where I conducted research on trauma processes and dissociation.  I completed my clinical internship at the Department of Veterans Affairs in New Jersey and went on to treat Veterans over the next five years in Texas (in the Rio Grande Valley and Austin) in both general mental health and primary care settings.  Subsequently, I worked in private practice in Austin for several years before relocating more recently back to New York.

In addition to psychotherapy, I can provide psychological and cognitive assessments, including ADHD assessment and personality assessment.

I work with clients of all different backgrounds, including those with complex psychological histories, and I work hard to build an environment in therapy that allows my clients to focus on moving forward.  If you are interested in learning more about me or my practice, get in touch with me for a free 15-minute consultation.

WHAT I OFFER

A Flexible Approach to Therapy

I work with every client in a unique way, because each client comes to therapy with their own set of expectations.  In order to do this, I have trained in different therapeutic methods, including behavioral therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and psychodynamic psychotherapy.  What does not change is my commitment to bringing the highest standard of care to my clients as they negotiate life's challenges by learning to cope better with sadness, anxiety, fear, and pain in order to lead better lives.

In addition to psychotherapy, I can provide psychological assessments, including comprehensive ADHD assessment.  If you are interested in assessment services, contact me to request more information.
